Any beach lover would love this place!
The day after the wedding festivities ended, my husband’s high school buddies, together with their partners for life, headed to the beach.
Our prior plan was Lemlunay. It’s a famous diving spot in the area.
However, when we reached the place, the resort would collect additional charges for food brought from outside. That wouldn’t do as we were already armed with food enough to feed us a week.
Instead, the group decided to make a detour to Susan’s Beach. Well, it wasn’t exactly a detour as the resort was still along the main road — a 45-minute ride from General Santos city.
Upon entering the resort, we were greeted with a profusion of bougainvilleas in all colors of the rainbow. A pretty sight really!
The resort was also a lover of statues.
There were lots of them dotted all over the place. I haven’t counted them all as the sun was having a field day that day.
Perhaps it was just me, but down south the sun seemed like shooting little arrows aimed exactly to whoever crosses its path.
One thing peculiar about Susan’s Beach was the timing of its low tide.
I don’t know much about tides, but I think it was a bit off. Other beaches normally have low tide in the late afternoon or early morning. When we reached the place, it was still around 10 in the morning and the water was already receding. High tide came much later.
View from our cottage. The water is already starting to retreat.
Meanwhile, I couldn’t resist exploring the dried up part of the beach — never mind that it was midday. Thankfully, someone was quick with the camera.
You’ll never really ran out of photo options here. The mountains in the background make it picture-perfect.
I especially love the mermaid over that rock.
I took a photo by the mermaid statue when the tide came back late in the afternoon. Regretfully, we couldn’t stay till sunset. I bet this place would be amazing.
There were lots of sea urchins lying around.
Better wear protective footwear.
A quick visit to Wikipedia told me these are sometimes called sea hedgehogs. Somehow these spiky creatures fascinate me.
Finally, the water came back!
Would I love to come here again? With the same company? Count me in.

I never thought that Susan’s beach in low tide was so rocky before. We’ ve been conducting research in Susan’s about the status of invertebrates. You should come again, their beach is a lot more better than ever.
